18 Hospitalized In Bus Crash

Eighteen people had to be taken to hospitals when a traffic accident between a bus and a car took place in Calumet Park. A Pace bus collided with a car in south suburban Calumet Park on November 6, and eighteen people were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation, although none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening. A number 359 Pace bus for Robbins to South Kedzie was headed north when the bus collided with a car, according to Pace Spokesman Patrick Wilmot. The crash happened at Throop and 124
th streets
Calumet Park Police Chief of Patrol Gerard Corrigan said the bus was turning right, and a car making a left turn hit the bus, causing minor damage to the bus. The incident took place around 12:50 p.m., and one of the headlights on the car was also broken in the collision.
Wilmot, spokesman for Pace, said the bus was transporting 36 passengers at the time of the accident. Chief Corrigan said that the 18 people who were taken to hospitals seemed unharmed, but were taken for evaluation, because they requested it.
