Accidents, by the very nature of the definition, are not planned ahead of time nor desired. They merely happen and consequences, whether large or small, are inflicted. However, some accidents can be prevented by wisdom and doing the right thing. Such is the case for Andrew Jones.
At 2:15 a.m., Andrew Jones and his passenger were in his Saturn when the deadly accident occurred. Jones was driving under the influence as he crashed into a viaduct on the West Side of Chicago, splitting it in half. The crash took place early Saturday, February 23, 2013. Jones was treated and released from the hospital with only cuts and bruises from the accident. His passenger, Chantelle Jones, 26, on the other hand, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital after being found outside the car.
Easily walking away from the accident led serious consequences to follow Andrew Jones. He was driving with a suspended license and had no insurance for his vehicle. That alone was reason for him to be arrested, but the inclusion of driving under the influence ensured him two felony charges. One was for aggravated driving under the influence and the other for reckless homicide of Chantelle Jones. Andrew Jones was also charged with two misdemeanors for his suspended license and driving a vehicle with no insurance.
