Posted on February 25,2013 in Personal Injury

According to a report by the chtribune, the victim in a fatal crash left almost prophetic and chilling statuses on her Facebook account prior to her untimely death. Law enforcement officials have disclosed that drugs and alcohol have played a part in this accident. It is stated in the police report that Ismael Garcia was riding around with friends while consuming a bottle of vodka and juice with friends. Sometime during the night he picked up two women, Bianca Christakis-Prieto and her friend. He continued to drink and even consumed drinks with the female passengers. They reportedly went to a beach and Garcia continued to drive recklessly. He was driving at a high rate of speed and doing doughnuts in the grass. The back seat passenger asked him to stop but he refused. They then continued on with their drive. Bianca, the front seat passenger placed a status on Facebook talking about cruising around drinking and having a reckless night. The back seat passenger at one point asked to be dropped off at her home but Garcia refused, saying that he was going to drink the second bottle of liquor first. Garcia crashed the vehicle on Laramie Avenue. Bianca was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia was pulled from the wreckage and the back seat passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders. The passenger was badly injured and medical personnel state that she has a long road of physical therapy ahead of her. Garcia was placed in intensive care for his injuries. He has a long criminal history according to law enforcement officials, which includes several earlier DUI charges. His blood alcohol content was reported at .255, which is way over the legal limit of .08. Investigators reported finding two open bottles of alcohol in the vehicle. One was completely empty and the other was almost empty. If you have been the victim of an irresponsible driver, you need to contact an Illinois personal injury attorney to discuss your options.
