Seven Kids Taken To Hospitals In Bus Crash

A school bus full of children hit a median on the Near West Side of Chicago. Seven of the children had to be taken to hospitals for observation after the accident. chtribune reported a story about the incident. The crash took place at Hoyne Avenue and Madison Street as the bus driver had to swerve to avoid hitting another vehicle, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan. The bus was taking children from Suder Montessori Elementary Magnet School to Skinner West Elementary School, a CPS spokeman said. The seven children that needed medical attention were taken to Rush University Medical Center, Stroger Hospital, and University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, said the media office of the Chicago Fire Department. Fortunately, none of the children were injured serious, and they were taken to hospitals in good-to-fair condition. By a stroke of luck, the children cleared their medical evalutions with no injuries found, News Affairs Officer Sullivan said. The driver of the school bus declined any medical treatment. The bus sustained major damage in the accident, according to officials. The bus was owned by CPS bus contractor Jewel's Bus Co.
