Three Fatal Crashes In One Day

WQAD reported
a story, updated on July 9, about three fatal traffic accidents that took place on Saturday, July 7 in Rock Island County, Illinois. Earl Garriott Jr., a motorcyclist from Davenport, Iowa, died from injuries he suffered when he could not make a turn and ran off the road in Port Byron, Illinois. According to police, Garriott was not wearing a helmet. Garriotts' cause of death was a traumatic head injury. Garriott's passenger, a 23-year-old female, survived the
accident without life-threatening injuries.
Ronald Marks, 35, was hit by a vehicle in East Moline, Illinois. He was later
pronounced dead at the hospital. The Rock Island County Coroner said Marks died of injuries he suffered to his chest and abdomen. The driver of the vehicle that hit Marks was also a 35-year-old male.
Patrick Sutton, 30, lost control of his GMC Denali and crashed the car at a high speed. Sutton was the only one in his vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Sutton's cause of death was a
traumatic head injury that he suffered in the crash, said the coroner. The accident happened just east of Port Byron, at 228
th Street at 101
st Avenue North.
All three accidents are currently under investigation.
